A fine forecast took us to North Wales for a few days' hillwalking. In the event the weather was distinctly wintry on the tops, and not ideal for one afflicted with lumbago! So we had only one day on the mountains before scuttling south to the Pembrokeshire coast.

Looking north-east from near the top of Carnedd Llewellyn. The 'lake' in the distance is the flooded Conway valley. The freezing wind does not show here!

On descent, looking across the Ogwen valley to Tryfan and the Glyders.

The cliffs of Yr Afr, near Cemmaes Head by Caerdigion.

Welsh mountain ponies are now used to control vegetation by the coast path.
