Scotland October 2006

We had a very short trip to Scotland in October, only getting two high walks. The second was on the Glencoe hills, up Stob Coire nan Lochan, over Bidean nam Bian, Sgurr Sgreamhach and Beinn Fada before dropping down steeply into the Lost Valley.

Looking east from Stob Coire nan Lochan.

Looking back up the Ben Fada ridge as the cloud swirls around.

There was much helicopter clatter in the glen below where men were "improving" the tracks. It was used for shifting rocks to be built into the path:

We were driven back south by the weather, so came via the Erskine Bridge and the coast road round the south-west of Scotland, waving to Sandra on the way...

Ailsa Craig with Northern Ireland on the skyline (for Sandra and Mike!).

We had a brisk leg-stretch between showers on the beach at Sandhead, Luce Bay, by Stranraer. Then east to the Lake District, arriving well after dark.
